"That is why we place enormous trust in the people responsible for caring for our loved ones after death," Beverley said.
Directing her words directly toward Bush in the dock, Beverley noted that he showed no visible emotion as she confronted him with the reality of his actions.
"I trusted you with the most precious person in my life," Beverley said.
She explained the emotional toll the discovery took on her mental health and how it shattered her peace regarding her child's memory.
"When I discovered what had happened, it reopened that trauma in a way I cannot fully describe," Beverley said.
Beverley noted that the emotional impact pulled her back into distress as she struggled to process how the firm handled her infant son.
"It felt like being pulled back into the darkest time of my life.
The grief, anxiety, and distress returned with such intensity that I again found myself struggling mentally and emotionally," Beverley said.
She emphasized that Bush destroyed her belief that her loved one received proper post-mortem care.
"Your actions have taken away something that can never be replaced: the peace of believing our loved ones were treated with care and respect after death," Beverley said.
Beverley highlighted the painful reality that her infant remained at the funeral home longer than he ever spent at home with his family.
"The reality I now live with is that my baby boy Sunny has spent more time in your possession than he ever did with his own family," Beverley said.
