"When the police told me there was a possibility that dad was still at Legacy, I was devastated," Thames said.
Thames recounted the disturbing thoughts that haunted her following the police disclosure.
"I had nightmares and thoughts of bodies just piled up came into my mind," Thames said.
She compared the horror of the realization to historical wartime atrocities.
"The only way I can describe it is like seeing images of the bodies found in Auschwitz during the war," Thames said.
The family of Terry White, 73, whose body police recovered more than two months after his Christmas Eve 2023 death, discovered the deception when contacting Chanterlands Crematorium to arrange a plot, only to learn the facility had no record of his cremation.
"Dad was such a lovely man and Robert Bush treated him like a piece of meat," White's daughter, Angela Scottow, said in her victim impact statement.

Investigators confirmed that Bush committed fraud involving 57 sets of ashes, including giving incorrect remains to 46 families and leaving 11 families with no ashes at all, such as in the case of Alan Chearman, whose family was handed random ashes in July 2022 despite his actual cremation not occurring until August.
