Based on a reference price of $63,889, this structure places the forced selling threshold near $39,900.
A 40 percent initial loan-to-value ratio requires a 50 percent price decline to hit liquidation around $31,900.
Reeds noted that leverage mechanisms introduce automatic execution risks during market downturns.
"As you add leverage to the market, it would create more forced selling because of different positions where there are liquidation thresholds," said Reeds.
Fixed-income debt markets globally represent $145.1 trillion in outstanding value. This compares to $126.7 trillion in equity markets, according to SIFMA's 2025 fact book.
Reeds pointed out that institutional interest in fixed-income structures exceeds pure equity risk appetite. "The debt markets are bigger than the equity markets.

Bitcoin-Linked Financial Products and Liquidation Thresholds
Bitcoin-linked products vary in what investors are buying, main return sources, and hidden risks. Spot Bitcoin ETFs offer liquid price exposure with daily flow sensitivity.
Options-income ETFs provide yield from covered calls but cap upside. Bitcoin-backed lending offers dollar returns secured by BTC collateral, with risks like LTV drift and forced liquidation.
Structured BTC credit and direct custody also carry distinct risk profiles.
Bitcoin collateral liquidation thresholds depend on the starting loan-to-value ratio.
At 50% LTV with an 80% liquidation threshold, a 37.5% BTC decline triggers liquidation near $39,900.
At 40% LTV, a 50% decline triggers liquidation around $31,900.
