Genesis has also confirmed work on hybrid and EREV powertrains, so a range-extender version of the GV90 could follow later.
The flagship SUV is scheduled to debut in August 2026. It will compete with the upcoming Range Rover Electric, BMW iX7, Mercedes-Benz EQS, and Cadillac Escalade IQ.
In markets outside the US, it will also face competition from premium Chinese EVs such as the Zeekr 9X, Aito M9, and Li Auto L9.
Kronschnabl confirmed that the GV90 will be sold in the UK, though sales volumes are expected to be modest.
