The Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs are set to begin a three-game interleague series on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 2:20 p. m.

Both teams enter the series looking to reverse recent slumps. The Astros hold a 20-31 record after losing three of their last four games.

Their pitching staff has the highest combined ERA in baseball, according to CBS Sports.

The Cubs are 29-21 but have dropped eight of their last 10 games.

They were swept at home by the Milwaukee Brewers and now sit in second place in the National League Central.

Pitching Matchup and Local Ties

Right-hander Spencer Arrighetti will start for Houston. He has a 5-1 record and a 1.50 ERA over six starts this season.

The Cubs will counter with right-hander Jameson Taillon, who is 2-3 with a 4.94 ERA.

Both pitchers grew up in the Greater Houston area.

Arrighetti graduated from Cinco Ranch High School in 2018, while Taillon graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2010.

Arrighetti has allowed one earned run or less in five of his six starts and carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning in his last outing against Texas on May 15.

Before the series, the Astros made roster moves, selecting right-handed pitcher Alimber Santa from Triple-A Sugar Land and optioning right-handed pitcher Jayden Murray to the same affiliate.
