A rare Acura NSX auction on Bring A Trailer took an unexpected turn when a six-figure bidding typo created a $100,000 discrepancy.

The car in question was a 2005 Acura NSX-T with only 4,200 miles, finished in Rio Yellow Pearl over yellow leather.

Acura reportedly built just six examples in this exact configuration.

Bidding climbed steadily from $42,000 past $200,000 into serious collector territory. At around $293,000, one bidder entered $394,000.

Moments later, the bidder commented: “Typo, $294,000.”

Bring A Trailer uses a two-step bid confirmation process, but the error still slipped through.

Commenters speculated the bidder might have been trying to gain negotiating leverage or stop the auction clock.

How Bring A Trailer Resolved the Issue

The site did not comment for a couple of days.

According to its Head of Auctions, the company determined the bid was a legitimate mistake and worked with the involved parties offline.

The seller was given options, including reopening bidding or negotiating with affected bidders. Eventually, the car was sold to another bidder for $310,000.

The private resolution raised questions about fairness, as other bidders in the high-$200,000 range were not given a chance to compete under the same rules.

Nonetheless, the outcome confirms that a fat-finger typo on a six-figure bid will not necessarily hold the bidder accountable for the full amount.
