Toronto Blue Jays rookie outfielder Yohendrick Pinango has quickly made his mark in the major leagues since being called up from Triple-A Buffalo on April 25.
The 24-year-old replaced Nathan Lukes, who suffered a hamstring injury, and has started 20 games, batting . 298 with 17 hits.

Pinango hit .
423 through his first 10 games, the fourth-best start in franchise history, according to Sportsnet and the Toronto Star.
He batted fifth against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Rogers Centre on Friday, May 22, 2026, a sign of the team's confidence in him.
Manager Praises Plate Discipline
Blue Jays manager John Schneider commended Pinango's command of the strike zone and aggressive approach.
"One thing that stands out overall is how he is commanding the strike zone," Schneider said. "He isn't scared in any situation."
The Blue Jays acquired Pinango and shortstop prospect Josh Rivera from the Chicago Cubs on July 27, 2024, in exchange for pitcher Nate Pearson.
Pinango spent five and a half years in the Cubs' minor-league system before the trade.

Personal Motivation Drives Performance
Pinango's aggressive style is fueled by the memory of his late father, Alexander, a former professional basketball player killed in Venezuela in 2008.
"One of his dreams for me was to become a ballplayer, a big-leaguer," Pinango said.
"I'm very happy that I made it, not only for myself but for him."
Pinango hit his first major-league home run during a road trip against the Detroit Tigers, a line-drive off reliever Kyle Finnegan.
"That was my first 'I am really here' experience," he said.
He also admitted feeling extra nervous at Yankee Stadium but has continued to produce.
Pinango set a goal to reach the majors in 2026, though he did not expect the call-up so soon.

Lukes has begun a minor-league rehabilitation assignment and could return next week, but reports suggest Pinango is likely to stay with the Blue Jays.
