Catcher Chadwick Tromp delivered a walk-off single in the 11th inning Friday night, giving the Atlanta Braves a 5-4 victory over the visiting Washington Nationals at Truist Park.
The win opened a three-game series between the National League East rivals.

Tromp's hit was the first walk-off of his career, capping a back-and-forth extra-innings contest.
Atlanta starter Bryce Elder pitched six innings, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out four.
His season ERA dropped to 1.97.
Washington took an early lead in the sixth inning when third baseman Curtis Mead homered to left field on a full-count fastball, his fifth home run of the season.
The Braves responded in the seventh against left-hander Mitchell Parker.
Dominic Smith singled to drive in Michael Harris II, and Ha-Seong Kim followed with a run-scoring bunt single to make it 2-1.
Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams tied the game 2-2 in the eighth inning with a solo home run off reliever Robert Suarez, his 11th of the year.

Abrams then gave Washington a 4-2 lead in the top of the 10th with a two-run triple.
But the Braves rallied in the bottom half, tying the game at 4-4 on two RBI singles.
Washington manager Blake Butera acknowledged the challenging stretch for his club after a series against the New York Mets.
"I thought we’ve played a pretty challenging schedule up to this point," Butera said.
He added that facing the division leaders on their home turf would be a strong test.
"There’s no doubt this is a good team, and playing them at their place is going to be a challenge," Butera said.
