Somebody's fighting to lose weight, somebody's fighting cancer, somebody's fighting to break through whatever boundaries there are.
Everybody in their own spectrum is a fighter and in their own perspective they are fighters," said Verhoeven.
The kickboxing veteran concluded that public figures harbor an inner desire to experience professional fighting.
"What we do – literally by fighting – is not for everybody, but it is very entertaining to watch and I also believe that everybody feels that from within.
I think these famous guys wish they were a fighter like that, you know?" said Verhoeven.
Addressing the critics of the sanctioning process, Verhoeven remained indifferent to the surrounding skepticism.
"It's just pretty simple actually...
I'm not here to try and convince anybody that I am over-entitled, or whatever, because I think this is just the new world," said Verhoeven.
"This is how everything is coming together these days. I'm not here to defend that or whatever, because everybody's entitled to their own opinion.
But I do understand how for some it does not make sense, because for them, I'm coming out of nowhere."
