The broadcaster emphasized that the admitted infractions indicated a systematic approach rather than an isolated incident.

"And there is no doubt that Southampton's management in this case have taken completely the wrong way of doing it," said Drury.

Drury stated that the sudden opportunity would inject fresh motivation into the Middlesbrough squad ahead of the final.

"The fact they've admitted to three breaches - two in recent weeks but one not so very recent - does rather suggest this has been a pattern of behaviour," said Drury.

He noted that the rapid transition between the appeal verdict and the match aligns closely with the standard, fast-paced Championship calendar.

"So he will feel absolutely vindicated and I hope he's feeling energised now [and] I hope the players are as a result of this," said Drury.

Middlesbrough supporter Chris Saunders discussed the heavy financial and emotional toll exacted on the fanbases of the involved clubs.

"It must be galling for them [Southampton] to have travelled up and down the country all season, paid the money for the season tickets, travelled home and away and the outcome they've got," said Saunders.

Saunders lamented that Southampton's long unbeaten run in the league had been rendered completely invalid by the off-field infractions.

"After what has been a fantastic month and 21 games unbeaten in the league, it's all been for absolutely nothing," said Saunders.

The supporter described the intense confusion experienced by Hull City fans as they awaited confirmation regarding their playoff opponents.
