Schenn also pointed to Marner's recent participation with Team Canada at international events, including the Four Nations tournament and the Winter Olympics, as a key factor that helped relax his approach to high-stakes games.
"You’re learning from those guys in the big games and how they approach the big games off the ice, how they practice.
I would say probably being a part of that group would be a huge influence on maybe relaxing a little bit and understanding what those guys do who have been there and done it," noted Schenn.
The offseason trade that brought Marner to Las Vegas sent forward Nicolas Roy to Toronto, though Roy was subsequently moved to the Colorado Avalanche at the March 5 trade deadline for draft picks.
Roy, who won a Stanley Cup with Vegas in 2023, has recorded three goals and three assists in the current playoffs while helping Colorado navigate injuries to key defensemen like Cale Makar, Josh Manson, and Sam Malinski.

"Just how it goes," said Roy regarding facing his former team.
The 29-year-old forward admitted that the mid-summer blockbuster trade surprised him at the time, especially since players usually expect such major roster moves closer to the league's trade deadline.
"As a player, you expect (a trade like this) more at the deadline than right there in the middle of the summer," said Roy.
"But again, you never know. It’s part of the business.
