The Tunisia national football team has appointed Herve Renard as its new head coach, the Tunisian Football Federation announced Tuesday.
The decision comes after the dismissal of former manager Sabri Lamouchi, who was sacked following Tunisia's 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening group-stage match of the 2026 World Cup in Monterrey, Mexico.

Renard Takes Over Immediately
Renard takes over the position with immediate effect as Tunisia prepares for a decisive Group stage match against Japan on Saturday night in Monterrey.
The French manager became available after being dismissed by Saudi Arabia two months prior, despite leading them to a successful World Cup qualification campaign that included a notable victory over Argentina in 2022.
Renard brings extensive international experience to the Tunisian squad, having led Zambia to an African Cup of Nations title in 2012 and repeating the feat with Ivory Coast in 2015.

The transitional Tunisian squad features several veteran players over 30, including Nice's Ali Abdi, Union Berlin's Rani Khedira, and Frankfurt's Ellyes Skhiri, alongside younger talents.
According to Transfermarkt, the total market value of the Tunisian squad stands at just under 70 million Euros, significantly lower than group opponents Japan, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

Tunisia faces steep mathematical odds to advance to the knockout rounds, but the upcoming match against Japan will serve as Renard's official debut on the Tunisian bench.
