India A opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set a new world record for the fastest half-century in List A cricket on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
The 15-year-old reached his fifty in just 11 balls during the tri-series final against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla.

Sooryavanshi finished with 94 runs off 29 balls, including 10 fours and eight sixes.
His innings surpassed the previous global record of a 12-ball fifty set by Sri Lanka's Kaushalya Weeraratne in the 2005-06 season.
The teenager also broke the Indian record for the fastest List A fifty, which was held by Sarfaraz Khan with a 15-ball half-century during the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Controversy and Comeback
The record-breaking performance came days after a disciplinary incident.

Sooryavanshi had physically shoved Sri Lanka's Vishen Halambage following a tense Super Over defeat earlier in the week.
Reports indicated the altercation began after Halambage taunted the teenager during the match, reportedly saying, "Go home, this is not the IPL."
Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar criticized the physical confrontation on social media. He suggested that team management should have benched the opener for his actions.
Sooryavanshi responded to the criticism by dismantling the Sri Lanka A bowling attack.
