The Cleveland Cavaliers have been linked to Thomas at the 29th overall pick as they seek cost-effective roster depth following their Eastern Conference Finals appearance.
Analysts believe his perimeter shooting could immediately benefit teams needing bench scoring.

“Assuming the Cavs lose Keon Ellis and maybe some other depth to get under the second apron, Thomas could be an excellent, cost-effective option,” said Zach Harper of The Athletic.
Harper noted that Thomas needs improvement in decision-making but can really shoot and score.
Areas for Development
Talent evaluators have raised concerns about Thomas's defensive consistency and court awareness.
Scouting reports indicate significant development is required before he can command reliable rotation minutes.
“First and foremost, Thomas is a poor team defender who ball-watches so much that I don't think coaches can have him on the floor in the NBA early on,” said Sam Vecenie of The Athletic.
Vecenie also pointed out issues with shot selection and lack of vision.
“His shot selection and lack of vision are completely out of whack. That could be fixable, but I'm not convinced the inconsistent vision will improve,” he said.
Vecenie added that Thomas struggles with pace modulation when driving.
“He goes from fast to slow. He's excellent at going from slow to fast with his first step.
But he needs to slow down to play more under control,” Vecenie said.
The evaluation suggested long-term patience will be essential for whichever franchise secures his rights.
“I could believe Thomas becoming a useful sixth man by the time he's 25. He has talent.

But I'm not convinced that the first team that has Thomas will get the most out of him,” Vecenie said.
