The Chicago Cubs completed a doubleheader sweep of the New York Mets on Wednesday night at Citi Field, winning the second game 10-5 after a 10-3 victory in the opener.

Shortstop Dansby Swanson was the offensive catalyst, recording four RBIs in the nightcap to go with seven in the first game.

His 11 total RBIs set a new franchise record for a doubleheader, surpassing the previous mark of 10 set by Hall of Famer Ron Santo on July 6, 1970.

Over the first three games of the series, Swanson accumulated 15 RBIs, the most by any player in a single series against the Mets.

He is also the first Major League Baseball player to record 15 RBIs in any series since Danny Espinosa did so for the Washington Nationals in 2016.

Swanson entered Tuesday with just 14 RBIs over his previous 48 games, making the surge a significant turnaround.

In the sixth inning of the nightcap, he broke a 4-4 tie with a go-ahead RBI triple off Mets left-hander Brooks Raley.

Mets right fielder Brett Baty misjudged the ball, allowing Pedro Ramírez to score from first base.

Swanson later scored on a groundout by Matt Shaw and added a two-run single in the ninth inning before stealing second base.

The Mets continued to struggle defensively, committing six errors in the second game alone.

Infielders Mark Vientos and Marcus Semien each recorded two errors, while Francisco Lindor and Bo Bichette committed one apiece.
