Porsche has unveiled the 911 GT4 R, a new race car built specifically for global GT4 competition.
It marks the first time the German automaker has used the 911 platform for this category, replacing the previous Cayman-based models.

Since 2016, Porsche produced around 1,500 GT4 racers based on the 718 Cayman.
With that model now out of production, the GT4 R adopts the 911 GT3 as its foundation.
Powertrain and Performance
The 911 GT4 R is powered by a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine.
In its standard configuration, the motorsport-spec unit delivers up to 513 horsepower and 346 lb-ft (469 Nm) of torque, figures comparable to the road-going GT3 RS.
However, power output varies depending on Balance of Performance regulations.
When leaving the factory, the car comes with 53.7-mm airflow restrictors that reduce output to 424 hp.
The engine is paired with a six-speed sequential dog-box transmission and a four-disc racing clutch, sending power to the rear wheels.

Chassis and Aerodynamics
Although the GT4 R may resemble the 911 Cup car, its wheels are one inch narrower and use a conventional five-lug setup instead of center locks.
The suspension features dual-adjustable dampers and three selectable spring rates to suit different tracks and driver preferences.
Aerodynamic upgrades include a new rear wing that can be adjusted across 11 positions. Weight reduction measures include carbon fiber doors, engine cover, and aero add-ons.
Inside, the car is equipped with an integrated data logger and a new 10.3-inch digital cluster.
Price and Availability
Porsche Motorsport will field the 911 GT4 R in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and SRO Pirelli GT4 America championships.
The car is also eligible for series such as the Porsche Sprint Trophy PCA, Porsche Sprint Challenge North America, Porsche Carrera Cup North America, and SRO GT America.
