He noted the specific cultural and tactical hurdles he faced upon joining the Grand Rapids Griffins.
"I had to get used to the new environment and the smaller ice, and communicating in English with the other guys," said Postava.
Postava credited Grand Rapids goaltending coach Roope Koistinen for facilitating his transition to the North American style of play.
"We worked on a lot of the details that you need," said Postava.

He emphasized the benefit of working with a coach who shares a European hockey background.
"He's Finnish and knew very well what a goalie from Europe needs to discuss, solve, and train to get used to overseas as soon as possible," said Postava.
The prospect maintains a focused approach as he seeks a permanent position on the Red Wings roster.
"I try to improve every day, and the environment helps me," said Postava.
He indicated that stepping up to higher leagues provides additional motivation for his development.
"The higher the level, the bigger the challenge for me," said Postava.
Postava explained his methodology for competing alongside and against top-tier professional talent.
"I always try to get as close to the quality of others next to me as possible. Simply stick to the best.
I don't know otherwise, because I'm a classic phlegmatic person," said Postava.
He believes his calm and steady temperament serves as an advantage when dealing with the pressures of professional hockey.
"I don't worry too much about anything, which probably helps a lot, too," said Postava.
He remains committed to the daily routine required to establish himself at the sport's highest level.

"I'm just doing my job, which I try to enjoy. But that also includes the daily grind," said Postava.
