Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson moved into a tie for second place at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship on Friday after carding a 4-under 68 in the second round.

She trails tournament leader Ina Yoon by five strokes heading into the weekend.

Henderson started her round on the back nine and posted a 2-under stretch early on.

Despite missing several putts from inside 10 feet and a bogey on the par-3 fourth hole, she closed with three consecutive birdies on holes seven through nine.

"It's halfway done.

(Yoon) had a great first half, so hopefully I can just have a great second half to try to make up the difference," Henderson said.

The 2016 champion leads the field in strokes gained from tee to green, gaining more than five strokes.

She is hitting 82 percent of fairways and over 77 percent of greens in regulation.

"I think we've been picking great spots off the fairway and into the greens and I've been able to execute and hit those spots," Henderson said.

"So far, so good there. Just got to continue the next two days."

Henderson became an aunt on Thursday after the birth of her niece, Sahalee, to her sister Brittany.

She also hired her cousin, Ryan Henderson, as her new caddie last month.
