Beaver Mountain resident Evan Stapley described learning about the destruction of his family retreat after receiving a video from a friend showing the empty site.
"To me, nothing's more beautiful than Beaver Mountain in the fall," he said.
The fast-moving flames completely leveled the structure, which held multiple generations of family memories. "I saw that and went, 'That's just unbelievable,'" said Stapley.
He noted how rapidly the fire appeared to have moved through the mountain area.
"The fire must have moved so fast and twirled around in there and just took it … I cried," said Stapley.
"I've got too many memories, too many memories of that place."

Farther north, the Iron Fire near Eureka, Utah, has also burned additional acreage as containment efforts continue across the state.
