Moto2 and MotoGP Highlights

In the Moto2 class, David Alonso won a close final lap battle against Manuel Gonzalez and Senna Agius.

Dutch riders Collin Veijer and Zonta van den Goorbergh finished ninth and fifteenth respectively after time penalties were issued to rival competitors.

Both earned World Championship points.

The premier MotoGP race saw multiple retirements from top competitors. High-profile riders including Franco Morbidelli, Pedro Acosta, Toprak Razgatlioglu, and Francesco Bagnaia all failed to finish.

Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi crashed early in the race.

Weather Impact on Local Businesses

In downtown Assen, hospitality business owners managed extreme weather transitions over the weekend. They experienced intense heat followed by severe rainstorms on Saturday evening.

"We have always thought about scenarios if the weather would turn bad. But that the weather would first be too good, we had not experienced yet.

And what happened last night was madness," said Geert te Velde, a local cafe owner.

The business owner noted that clean-up operations commenced under clear skies the following morning. Hospitality venues began preparing for future iterations of the event.

"But with about 10 degrees less," said Te Velde.

Spectator Departure and Assistance

Outside the venue, roadside assistance crews prepared for tens of thousands of departing spectators. Fans gathered along the A28 highway near Beilen to watch the traditional exit traffic.

The ANWB deployed support vehicles behind the main grandstand to assist stranded fans with common mechanical problems.

"Think, for example, of flat tires, lost keys, a chain coming off, or broken lights," said an unnamed ANWB employee.
