He expressed profound gratitude to the audience and the participating artists for the overwhelming reception.
"These nice things people said, it's just overwhelming," said Alan Jackson. "It just makes me wanna tear up a little bit."
The singer then lightened the mood of the stadium, joking that the extensive tribute segments initially made the farewell concert feel somber.
"We're not going to dwell on all this sad 'last show' stuff," said Alan Jackson.
"Earlier it felt like a funeral and I was up in heaven watching all these people sing my songs."
Jackson encouraged the crowd to enjoy the remainder of the evening by dancing and singing along to his expansive four-decade catalog.
"Two-step up and down the aisle, do whatever you want to do, sit back and relax, have a good time, have a drink," said Alan Jackson.
"We'll try to play something you like."
The evening featured 17 tribute performances before Jackson's main set, which included 23 songs and concluded with a three-song finale of "Chattahoochee," "Mercury Blues," and "Where I Come From."
