The victory provides a necessary boost for Russell after Antonelli claimed wins from five of the previous seven race meetings this season.

Russell initially maintained his lead from the starting grid while Hamilton seized second place by moving around the outside of turn four against Leclerc.

Antonelli dropped behind Verstappen on the second lap after running off track, with the Red Bull driver subsequently overtaking Leclerc to claim third.

Verstappen overtook Hamilton at turn three before Hamilton immediately responded to reclaim the position through turns six and seven.

Although Verstappen expressed frustration over being forced wide during the battle, race stewards reviewed the incident and judged it as fair racing.

Ferrari attempted a three-stop strategy for Hamilton to address their lack of pace, but the tactical choice failed to deliver the intended progression.

Verstappen moved past Hamilton on lap 22 at turn three, utilizing fresher tires to secure the track position as Hamilton attempted to fight back through turn six.

The Dutchman lowered the gap to Russell to four seconds by lap 34 before closing within 1.5 seconds of the lead by lap 40.

Russell entered the pit lane for his final stop on lap 44, whereas Verstappen extended his stint before eventually pitting on lap 49.
