The Netherlands' national heatwave could stretch into a twelfth day on Monday, June 29, 2026, as temperatures in De Bilt remain near the critical 25-degree Celsius threshold.

According to reports from NH Nieuws and Hart van Nederland, the official heatwave will persist as long as the temperature at the De Bilt weather station stays above 25 degrees Celsius.

Eastern and southeastern regions are still seeing temperatures between 27 and 28 degrees Celsius, while other parts of the country experience slightly cooler but still summery weather.

In North Holland, conditions have become more pleasant with lower humidity. However, coastal cooling remains limited due to high sea temperatures.

"By the way, the seawater at the coast has warmed up to 20 to 21 degrees. That is unprecedentedly high," said NH weather forecaster Jan Visser.

Visser noted that humidity has dropped significantly compared to the previous day, bringing more comfortable air. "Certainly 10 to 15 percent less than yesterday," he added.

Inland areas of North Holland are recording higher temperatures than coastal zones. "There it will be 24 degrees, in 't Gooi perhaps 25 degrees," Visser said.

The continuation of the national heatwave hinges entirely on the final evening temperature readings in De Bilt. "If not, then it's over.

But we won't know that until tonight," Visser explained.

Meteorologist Robert de Vries from Hart van Nederland said typical Dutch summer weather is expected to return later in the week.

Weather disturbances entering the North Sea region on Wednesday and Thursday will bring an increased chance of showers, though overall temperatures are projected to remain stable before potentially rising again next week.
