The Toronto Maple Leafs made two roster moves on Monday, June 29, 2026, securing defenceman Troy Stecher with a two-year contract extension and allowing forward Matias Maccelli to become an unrestricted free agent.
The moves came ahead of the NHL's qualifying offer deadline at 5 p. m.

Stecher's New Deal
Stecher's contract is worth $2.7 million, with an average annual value of $1.35 million, according to league sources reported by TSN and The New York Times.
The 31-year-old defenceman recorded 14 points in 64 games last season, splitting time between the Edmonton Oilers and the Maple Leafs after being claimed off waivers in November.
Maccelli Heads to Free Agency
Toronto declined to extend a $4.1 million qualifying offer to Maccelli, making the 25-year-old winger an unrestricted free agent when the market opens on Wednesday.

Maccelli earned 39 points in 71 games last season.
The Maple Leafs originally acquired him from the Utah Mammoth in June 2025 in exchange for a 2027 third-round draft pick.
His previous three-year contract escalated in actual cash salary, making the required qualifying offer too expensive for the team's salary cap structure.
Other RFA Moves
Toronto retained the rights to pending restricted free agents Nick Robertson, Emil Andrae, and Jacob Quillan by tendering them qualifying offers.
