A Fiat Pandina prototype wearing Autobianchi badges has been spotted testing, signaling a special edition aimed at preserving Stellantis' trademark rights.

The Tributo Autobianchi edition is based on the rugged Pandina Cross, featuring plastic cladding and likely retro touches inside and out.

Why Autobianchi Returns

Autobianchi was born in 1955 as a joint venture between Bianchi, Pirelli, and Fiat, and its A112 hatchback became a hit with over 1.2 million units produced before 1986.

The marque disappeared in 1995, but Stellantis still holds the rights.

European trademark regulations require active use of a registered name on a production vehicle to avoid losing legal rights.

By releasing a Tributo Autobianchi version of the Pandina, Stellantis resets the clock and keeps the brand under its control.

The special edition is expected to feature new front bumper trim, different alloy wheels, and a vintage beige-brown color.

Inside, retro materials and touches are likely.

Under the skin, the Tributo Autobianchi will retain the standard Pandina's mild-hybrid 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine producing 69 hp, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox driving the front wheels.

The current Pandina, launched in 2011, will continue production until the end of the decade before a fully electric successor arrives.
