Former world number one doubles player Jamie Murray will join BBC Sport as a dedicated analysis expert for the upcoming Wimbledon 2026 tournament following his retirement from professional tennis.

The 40-year-old sports icon officially called time on his 20-year career in April 2026 after quietly stopping tournament play in December 2025.

The elder Murray brother accumulated 39 titles during his career, including seven grand slam championships.

Despite his historic on-court achievements, he acknowledged a significant financial disparity between himself and his brother, three-time grand slam singles champion Andy Murray, noting that his tournament earnings totaled just over £5 million compared to Andy’s estimated £110 million fortune.

Post-Tennis Plans

Speaking to the Radio Times about his post-tennis life, Jamie Murray explained the differences in his financial planning compared to his younger sibling.

"No, not really, but I think we're in different situations financially, what we can and can't do in retirement.

Hopefully you'll see a lot more of me because I need to work a lot more than Andy," said Jamie Murray.

He also expressed interest in pursuing entertainment projects outside of sports broadcasting during his retirement.

"It's such a good show.

I saw the cast for this latest one and I noticed they didn't have any athletes," said Jamie Murray.

Reflecting on the public announcement of his retirement, which he shared on social media, the former champion admitted he was surprised by the outpouring of support from fans and peers.
