"I think it's disappointing he chose not to come," said Jamie Murray.
The decision caused temporary tension between the siblings, leading to a period of silence that lasted for several weeks.
"It kind of affects the way we feel about him.
From what I've been reading he hasn't come out and said he's injured, it's more of a prevention thing.
I think if he had really wanted to push himself he could have come here for the match," said Jamie Murray.
Jamie emphasized that Andy's absence significantly impacted Team GB's chances of winning the singles matches.
"If he had come here, he would have caused them problems because he has the ability to win singles matches, he's a world-class player.
He's been in the top 10 and not by fluke," said Jamie Murray.
Andy Murray quickly defended his decision to withdraw, citing the physical toll of playing consecutive matches on clay courts.
"He obviously felt pretty strong about it and he's entitled to his opinion.
If he knew what it was like playing three five-set matches in a row on clay then maybe he'd understand my position a little bit better," said Andy Murray.
He acknowledged that resolving the dispute with his brother would require a difficult conversation.
