American actor Danny Glover announced during a television interview on Wednesday that he has been living with Alzheimer's disease for several years.
The 79-year-old Lethal Weapon star disclosed the condition to NBC to help combat public stigma.

Glover received the medical diagnosis shortly after earning an honorary Oscar designation in 2022.
Although the four-time Emmy winner noted that his physical movements, speech, and memories have slowed down, he confirmed that he remains active.
"I can live with it in a sense," Glover said. "I'm sure as it advances, things are going to be different and changing."
Family members joined the actor during the interview with former NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt on The Today Show.
The family emphasized the importance of public awareness and taking ownership of the health announcement.
"I think it's really important for him to have control of his own narrative, of his own life story," said Mandisa, Glover's daughter.

"That's really important. And the time is now.
What better time but now for him to speak for himself?"
According to the Alzheimer's Association, Glover is among approximately 7 million Americans over age 65 living with the disease.
The organization reports that older Black Americans are twice as likely to develop the condition compared to older white Americans.
The actor began his career in his early 20s, accumulating more than 170 acting credits, including prominent roles in the 1980s films Places in the Heart and The Color Purple.
He also launched a production company dedicated to developing politically relevant films.

"We have challenges in the world," Glover said. "I think art becomes a reframe, a way of looking at that, you know?"
