Felix Auger-Aliassime advanced to the Wimbledon third round after a straight-sets victory over Croatia's Dino Prizmic on Wednesday.

The Canadian won 7-6 (2), 6-3, 7-5 in a men's singles second-round match at the All England Club.

Auger-Aliassime converted two of four break-point opportunities and fired 15 aces, winning 86 percent of his first-serve points.

The Montreal native has not dropped a set through two matches at Wimbledon.

Next Opponent

Auger-Aliassime will face American qualifier Michael Zheng in the third round on Friday.

Zheng, ranked 144th, won two NCAA singles championships and reached the third round by defeating Nicolas Mejia after an earlier upset over Britain's Cameron Norrie.

“I like how he plays. He's very tricky, he's got a great tennis IQ, got great ball control.

It's going to be a tough one,” Auger-Aliassime said.

“It's not a surprise he's in the third round.”

Other Canadian singles players have struggled at Wimbledon.

Denis Shapovalov, Bianca Andreescu, and Leylah Fernandez lost on the opening day, while Gabriel Diallo fell to Italy's Lorenzo Sonego on Thursday.

Shapovalov retired after colliding with a protective wall while trailing Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta.

World No. 10 Victoria Mboko withdrew from the grass-court season due to a medial collateral ligament injury in her left knee sustained at Queen's Club.

Auger-Aliassime is the only Canadian man to reach the quarterfinals at all four Grand Slams. He lost in the French Open quarterfinals last month to Italy's Flavio Cobolli.

“I can't complain with my life, but I'm in a place right now with my career that it's tough,” he said after that defeat.

“I think it was realistic of the circumstances.
