JioStar has promoted media executive Prashant Khanna to head of sports rights, innovation, and cricinfo business.
The promotion took effect on July 4, 2026, expanding his role across the company's global sports portfolio.

Khanna takes on the expanded leadership responsibilities after spending nearly nine years across Star, Disney Star, and JioStar.
In his new position, he will oversee rights strategy, strategic partnerships, syndication, and business development across domestic and international markets.
Khanna shared the career update on LinkedIn, reflecting on his journey within the sports broadcasting network.

The promotion leverages Khanna's extensive background in production and technology. He intends to apply that experience toward driving business development and digital expansion for the network.

Prior to this promotion, Khanna served as head of sports and live experiences production technology and services at JioStar.
In that role, he managed production services for high-profile sporting events, including the ICC World Cups, the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
Khanna also holds current external industry positions.
He serves as the production contract manager for the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the 2024–27 cycle.
Additionally, he is a member of the IPL World Feed Production Committee under the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Before joining the Star network in 2017, Khanna accumulated over seven years of leadership experience at The Walt Disney Company.

His 25-year career also includes previous roles at News Corporation, NDTV, Turner Broadcasting, Reliance MediaWorks, Hinduja Group, Encompass Digital Media, and QSport Media.
