UN human rights experts have declared a critical "medical emergency" as British citizens Craig and Lindsay Foreman enter their second month of a hunger strike inside Iran's notorious Evin prison.
The couple, both 53, were detained 18 months ago during a global motorcycle tour and deny all espionage allegations.

Craig Foreman has abstained from solid food for 55 days, while Lindsay Foreman has fasted for 46 days, surviving only on water with small amounts of milk and honey.
Family Pleads for End to Hunger Strike
Loved ones are drafting a joint letter urging them to stop before permanent damage occurs, following a complete cutoff of regular telephone communication since May.
In a letter smuggled out of the facility, Lindsay Foreman said: "We are continuing because we must expose the corruption and cruelty in this country."
She explained their protest aims to highlight systemic state behavior affecting both domestic and foreign prisoners.
"We hope that our short-term, temporary suffering can contribute to a long-term, permanent solution to the injustice and lies endured by both Iranians and foreigners," she wrote.
Family members are alarmed by the couple's deteriorating condition. Ms. Foreman appeared visibly weakened during a mid-June consular meeting with British Ambassador Hugo Shorter.
Joe Bennett, Ms. Foreman's son, said: "My biggest concern is time. As each day passes, it’s a day closer to potential harm."
He noted that prolonged starvation could cause irreversible cardiovascular and cognitive complications.
