The administrative transition followed an intense three-hour meeting in Frankfurt between DFB officials and Nagelsmann.
Although Nagelsmann initially intended to fulfill his contract through Euro 2028, he stepped down to give the national team a fresh start.
Nagelsmann ended his tenure, which began in September 2023, with a record of 23 wins, seven draws, and seven losses in 37 matches.
The penalty shootout defeat against Paraguay marked Germany's third consecutive World Cup failure to reach the round of 16.
Klopp has been in a strategic role with Red Bull since January 1, 2025, assisting sporting directors and advancing soccer philosophy.
