The update was published on Monday, July 6, 2026, following the opening weekend of the Nations Championship and Nations Cup.

Gregor Townsend's side secured a 47-38 victory over Argentina in Córdoba. This was Scotland's highest-ever score against the Pumas on home soil.
The win lifted their rating points to 84.71, returning them to the fifth-place spot last held during the 2023 World Cup.
Argentina dropped two places to seventh as a result. England remained in sixth despite a heavy 45-21 defeat to South Africa at Ellis Park.
The rating gap between England and the Springboks was too large for them to lose points.

South Africa stayed at the summit with 93.94 points.

Their lead over second-placed New Zealand narrowed to 2.90 points after the All Blacks beat France 34-32 in Christchurch.
Ireland retained third place following a 33-31 win over Australia in Sydney. France remained fourth, while Australia stayed eighth.
Wales held 11th despite a 39-24 victory over Fiji, narrowing the gap on tenth-placed Italy, who lost 27-10 to Japan.
Further down, the United States climbed to 14th after beating Portugal 30-29.
Samoa rose to 18th, and Canada moved up to 23rd following a 42-42 draw with Spain, who fell three spots to 20th.
