Shohei Ohtani moved within one home run of a major career milestone after hitting his 299th major league home run during the Los Angeles Dodgers' 8-7 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium on Monday night.

The designated hitter broke out of a five-game homerless stretch with a two-run, opposite-field shot that erased an early deficit against Rockies starter Kyle Freeland.

Ohtani improved his career record against the left-hander to 9-for-16 with three home runs.

The home run was Ohtani's 19th of the season and his 128th since joining the Dodgers three seasons ago, extending his lead as Japan's all-time major league home run leader over Hideki Matsui.

Ohtani later added a two-run single up the middle in the fourth inning, driving in Dalton Rushing and Max Muncy to cap a four-run surge that extended the Dodgers' lead to 6-1.

Dodgers Reach 60 Wins

The victory allowed the Dodgers to become the first team in Major League Baseball to reach the 60-win benchmark this season, maintaining their 14-game lead in the National League West division.

Starting pitcher Eric Lauer, recently acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations, limited the Rockies to three runs and six hits over six innings, maintaining a 3.12 ERA over eight games.

The Rockies rallied in the ninth inning against substitute closer Tanner Scott, who blew a three-run lead by allowing a two-out double to Cole Carrigg that tied the game after a replay review overturned a third scheduled run at home plate.

After the Rockies briefly took the lead in the 10th inning, Dalton Rushing secured the victory for the Dodgers in the 11th inning with a walk-off single off Jimmy Herget, who dropped to an 0-3 record.
