Australian striker Sam Kerr has signed a free transfer contract with National Women's Soccer League club Gotham FC through 2030, securing her return to the United States after a seven-year absence.
The 32-year-old forward previously played for the franchise from 2015 to 2017 when it was known as Sky Blue FC, long before the team underwent a complete operational overhaul and secured two NWSL Championships.

The club's leadership expressed significant enthusiasm regarding the reunion with the historic league top scorer, who accumulated 77 regular season goals during her previous tenure in the United States.
"A landmark moment for our club," said Yael Averbuch West, President of Soccer Operations.
Kerr is expected to potentially debut on July 15 during a high-profile match at Citi Field against the Washington Spirit.

The veteran striker joins Gotham FC following a highly successful six-and-a-half-year stint with Chelsea, where she scored 116 goals across all competitions and secured five Women's Super League titles.
Kerr emphasized that the competitive environment and elite roster of the reigning NWSL champions played a pivotal role in her decision to return to the American league.
