According to the park, the attraction will be located near the main entrance, making it a prominent feature for arriving guests.

The ride represents the largest single investment in Efteling's nearly 75-year history.

Record Investment and New Thrill Ride

The 50 million euro cost surpasses previous record investments, including 35 million euros for Danse Macabre and Symbolica, and 18 million euros for Baron 1898.

Dutch manufacturer Vekoma is building the innovative thrill glider coaster.

The ride features vehicles suspended beneath the track, with riders leaning forward.

Each train carries 18 passengers, reaching speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour during a ride lasting over two minutes.

Efteling General Director Fons Jurgens expressed enthusiasm for the unique design. "Missie Luminar will be a fantastic addition to our offering of thrill rides.

This specific type of roller coaster is new to Efteling," Jurgens said.

He noted that the top speed might feel even faster to riders. The prominent location will serve as an immediate visual highlight for incoming guests.

"It will be unique and special, also because of the location. Missie Luminar is an addition to the theme area The Island of the Five Senses.

Visitors will see the racing vehicles immediately upon entering," Jurgens added.

The ride's theme centers on a 19th-century scientific institute where visitors act as missionauts aiming to break the light barrier.

Environmental cleanup at the site, which currently houses a logistics warehouse over an old landfill, will begin after summer before construction starts.
