The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued water quality warnings for seven local beaches on Wednesday after water samples revealed elevated bacteria levels exceeding state standards amid an intensifying summer heatwave.
Health officials warned that entering the contaminated waters could increase the risk of human illness.

The current advisories impact specific coastal zones, including 100 yards around the storm drains at Will Rogers State Beach and Topanga County Beach, 100 yards from Ramirez Creek at Paradise Cove, and 100 yards around the Santa Monica Pier and Topanga Canyon Beach lagoon.
The entire swimming areas at Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey and Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro are also closed to the public.
Conversely, authorities lifted the warning for the Redondo Beach Pier after recent sample results showed bacteria levels returned to safe baselines.
The surge in bacteria levels matches ongoing regional heatwaves and runoff, which arrived alongside extended weather advisories from the National Weather Service.

"Additionally, monsoonal moisture will add to the discomfort level from the heat next week," the National Weather Service added.
