The administration plans to redirect funds saved from bureaucratic reductions toward public investments in security, health, education, and infrastructure.
Technical audits of remaining international diplomatic representations are scheduled during the first 100 days of the administration to determine if further structural modifications will be executed.
“I want to be very clear, these decisions do not mean breaking diplomatic relations with those countries, much less with those multinational organizations,” De La Espriella said.
The policy will maintain diplomatic exceptions for Cuba and Nicaragua.

With the rest of the countries and organizations, Colombia will maintain its international relations and guarantee attention to our citizens through concurrent representation schemes from other embassies in the region,” he said.
Strategic expansion will focus on regions offering economic and geopolitical benefits.
“I am going to reopen the Colombian embassy in Jerusalem, that was one of the campaign promises, and I am going to open a new embassy in Nigeria, which will allow us to reorganize and make our diplomatic presence in Africa more efficient,” De La Espriella said.
Administrative reviews will continue after the inauguration to ensure maximum efficiency across state departments.
“Furthermore, during the first 100 days of government, I will conduct a technical audit of other diplomatic representations,” he said.
The upcoming evaluation may result in additional diplomatic contractions.
“This does not stop here.
We are going to determine if all those embassies that still exist are going to be left,” De La Espriella said.
