When asked how he stays positive despite the uncertain timeline of his illness, Goodburn paused before explaining his drive to raise awareness for brain tumor research, which remains a leading cause of cancer deaths among people under 40 in the UK.
"It's a really difficult question because this is just a snapshot," Goodburn said. "This is the highlight of that massive crowd in front of me."
He paused briefly to compose himself before continuing his response regarding his advocacy work and personal mindset.
"Sorry. I want to find an answer for this," Goodburn said.
He took a deep breath before articulating his long-term goal for competing and sharing his journey on the international stage.
"I believe that my own advocacy can make a difference to my own life," Goodburn said.
"The best way I can do that is to be positive about the situation and positive for change."
He emphasized that his efforts are meant to encourage future generations of young athletes and cancer patients.

"I also advocate for the future Archies. I swim for future Archies who want to succeed on an international level.
But also young patients and people with brain cancer under the age of 40.
Brain cancer is the biggest killer of all cancers for people under the age of 40 in the UK," Goodburn said.
Goodburn expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to compete in front of his home supporters.
