Maresca dismissed transfer rumors surrounding the midfielder, clarifying that internal discussions regarding a potential departure have not occurred.

"The main focus for him when the season finished was the World Cup. Now he is enjoying some rest," said Maresca.

The City manager added that resting the midfielder remains the current priority.

"Every manager in the world wants Rodri because he's a top player, so it's important for me, for the club, for everyone, but now he needs his holiday," said Maresca.

Meanwhile, opposition side Inter Milan completed the signing of former City defender John Stones on a two-year contract on Thursday.

The 32-year-old departed Manchester as a free agent at the end of last month following the conclusion of his contract and England's third-place finish at the World Cup.

Inter head coach Cristian Chivu expressed satisfaction with securing the veteran defender to bolster his defensive options.

"For us, having the possibility to get John Stones (as) a free agent, it's important," said Chivu.

Chivu highlighted the specific attributes the former City player brings to the Italian club.

"It's important for the quality he brings, it's important for the personality, for the charisma he has, for the experience that he has shown," said Chivu.

The Inter manager noted the defensive squad integration following the arrival.

"It's one defender added to our group of defenders who will definitely improve the department," said Chivu.
