Subaru has introduced a new entry-level turbocharged Forester trim in Japan called the Touring, priced at ¥3,850,000 ($24,200).
This model serves as the most affordable way to get a turbo engine in the sixth-generation Forester, but it is not available in North America.

What the Touring Trim Offers
The JDM Forester Touring features unpainted black bumper guards and side claddings, along with 18-inch bi-tone diamond-cut aluminum wheels.
Inside, it comes with fabric upholstery in black or gray/platinum, blue stitching on seats, and silver stitching on the gear selector.
Standard equipment includes an 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, analog dials with a 4.2-inch display, a 10-way power driver's seat with memory, an 8-way power passenger seat, heated front and rear outboard seats, and power folding mirrors.
For those wanting more, the Touring EX adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the Eyesight X ADAS technology, priced at ¥3,993,000 ($25,100).
Engine and Powertrain Options
The Touring and Touring EX trims are powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder boxer engine producing 174 hp and 300 Nm of torque.

Power is sent to all four wheels via a CVT and Subaru's Symmetrical AWD system.
Other trims like the X-Break and Premium EX use a self-charging hybrid setup combining a 2.5-liter e-Boxer engine with an electric motor and a 1.1 kWh battery.
Pricing and Availability
The updated Forester is already on sale in Japan, with a monthly sales target of 2,200 units.
The range-topping Premium S:HEV EX costs ¥4,642,000 ($29,200).

In contrast, the US-spec Forester Base starts at $29,995 with standard Eyesight, while the Touring Hybrid tops the lineup at $41,545 before fees.
