The San Antonio Spurs selected University of Kentucky center Jayden Quaintance with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday night.
The move aims to bolster the team's frontcourt defensive depth behind star Victor Wembanyama.

Quaintance, 18, stands 6-foot-10 and possesses a 7-foot-5 wingspan, making him an athletic rim-runner and defensive anchor.
Injury Concerns
Quaintance played only four games for Kentucky last season due to recovery from a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee, suffered in February 2025 while at Arizona State.
After returning in December, lingering health issues sidelined him for the remainder of the Wildcats' schedule.
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope previously expressed caution about the center's recovery timeline.

"He is not ready right now," Pope said in February, "and we're not going to roll him out there until he's 100 percent."
Despite limited availability, Quaintance averaged five points and five rebounds per game on 57 percent shooting from the field.
During his freshman season at Arizona State, he earned Big 12 All-Defensive team honors, averaging 2.6 blocks and 1.1 steals per game.
