The San Antonio Spurs are exploring a blockbuster trade to acquire New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby, according to a recent report by Bleacher Report.
The move comes after the Knicks defeated the Spurs in five games during the 2026 NBA Finals.

Anunoby averaged 21.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game in the Finals.
Bleacher Report analyst Grant Hughes suggested that the Spurs should target the two-time NBA champion to address their need for a dynamic power forward who can defend and score alongside Victor Wembanyama.
Trade Hurdles and Financial Factors
The proposed trade faces significant obstacles.
New York is unlikely to part with a key contributor who helped deliver their first championship since 1973, especially to a direct Finals rival.

"He'd come at an extremely high cost and might not be attainable from a Knicks team that wouldn't want to improve the squad it just beat in the Finals," Hughes wrote.
Financial motivations could play a role, as Knicks owner James Dolan reportedly wants to avoid severe penalties associated with crossing the NBA's second luxury tax apron.
"Anunoby is the superior player, but would be a highly implausible get," Hughes added.
San Antonio possesses the necessary assets to facilitate a major deal, including players like Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell alongside a collection of valuable future draft picks.

While landing Anunoby remains a long shot, the Spurs are expected to aggressively pursue frontcourt upgrades before the next season.
