The Association of Tennis Professionals has fined French player Corentin Moutet $40,000 for using profane language during a post-match interview at the HSBC Championship in London.

Moutet uttered the F-word seven times live on BBC television after defeating Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round at Queen's Club.

The ATP cited unsportsmanlike conduct for the broadcast outburst.

The fine represents more than 90 percent of the £33,000 prize money Moutet earned by advancing to the second round.

Tennis legend Boris Becker commented on the penalty via X, saying it will serve as a lesson.

He noted Moutet had been warned multiple times about swearing on live television.

Moutet confirmed he plans to appeal the fine under standard ATP regulations.
