The Detroit Tigers extended their winning streak to four games with a 5-3 victory over the New York Yankees on Monday night at Comerica Park.
Framber Valdez earned the win, pitching six innings and allowing one run on four hits while striking out eight batters.

Gerrit Cole, who entered with a 10-1 career record against Detroit, surrendered five runs and nine hits over 4 1/3 innings, taking his second loss of June.

Riley Greene hit a 422-foot home run in the fifth inning, and Kevin McGonigle drove in two runs to lead the Tigers' offense.
The Yankees, playing without injured slugger Aaron Judge, lost their third straight game despite holding the best record in the American League at 46-31.
Valdez, who struggled in May, improved to 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA in June. "I feel like I'm getting in my rhythm," he said.

The breaking ball is a big part of this," Hinch said.
Valdez relied heavily on his curveball, tying his season high for strikeouts.
"My curveball is the one that has put food on the plate for me and my family," he said.
The game featured a seven-minute delay in the fourth inning when an on-field camera dislodged near second base.
Detroit reliever Will Vest recorded the final four outs for his second save, preserving the lead after Amed Rosario hit a two-run homer in the seventh.

The victory marked Detroit's first win against Cole since April 2016, when he pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
