When Hyundai unveiled the China-exclusive IONIQ V at Auto China 2026, its low-slung, angular design drew immediate comparisons to Lamborghini.

But under the dramatic sheet metal lies a single 225 hp motor—a mismatch that begs for an N treatment.

Design Transformation

Our rendering by Josh Byrnes imagines the IONIQ V in full N attire, preserving its wedge-shaped aesthetic while adding performance cues.

Up front, a deeper splitter, larger cooling intakes, and red accents mirror other N models.

The 4.9-meter (193-inch) profile gains larger wheels, performance brakes, side skirts, and a lowered ride height.

Out back, a functional diffuser, discreet spoiler, and N-specific taillights complete the look.

Performance Potential

Based on Hyundai's 800-volt E-GMP architecture, the IONIQ V N could borrow the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain from the Ioniq 6 N, producing 601 hp (448 kW) or 641 hp in N Grin boost mode.

Hyundai's patented electronic manual transmission—with a gated shifter, six speeds, and a clutch pedal—could also be featured.

Under the skin, stiffer springs, adaptive damping, larger anti-roll bars, sharper torque vectoring, and upgraded brakes would handle the extra power.

Interior and Tech

The cabin would retain the standard car's 27-inch 4K panoramic display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor, and AI voice assistant.

N-specific additions include bolstered sports seats with illuminated N logos, a sports steering wheel with N mode presets, and Alcantara trim.

Other features: advanced head-up display with lap-timer, Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, and track-focused telemetry.

Market and Competition

The standard IONIQ V is expected to launch in China later this year, with potential global expansion (excluding the US due to tariffs).

If greenlit, the IONIQ V N would rival the Tesla Model 3 Performance, Polestar 4 Performance Pack, BYD Seal Performance, and others.
