A shooting at a youth welfare facility in the northern German town of Stade on Monday resulted in five deaths and multiple injuries.
Police quickly responded and arrested two individuals. One of them is believed to be the shooter, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred on Dankersstrasse, south of the town center, at a facility that provides temporary housing for pregnant women and young mothers.
Law enforcement officials stated that there is no ongoing danger to the public following the arrests. Investigators are working to determine the motive and sequence of events.
A neighbor, Vitali Mertens, who lives across the street, witnessed the aftermath.

"The whole area was cordoned off right away," he said, adding that police sent him away as they secured the perimeter.
Video footage showed a heavy police presence, multiple ambulances, and emergency personnel lining the street after the gunfire stopped.
Stade is a town of about 50,000 residents, located roughly 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Hamburg.
