The Detroit Pistons are actively shopping guard Marcus Sasser as the franchise reshapes its roster ahead of free agency in July 2026.
The 25-year-old guard has been made available after Detroit's second-round exit in the 2026 NBA Playoffs, prompting front office adjustments to build around star Cade Cunningham.

Roster Moves Create Backcourt Surplus
According to league executives who spoke with HoopsHype, Sasser is expendable due to a crowded backcourt.
The Pistons recently traded veteran center Isaiah Stewart to the Memphis Grizzlies and acquired guard Isaiah Joe.
Detroit also drafted Ebuka Okorie and currently has Daniss Jenkins on the roster, leaving Sasser as an odd man out in the rotation.

Sasser saw a decline in playing time during the 2025-2026 season, averaging 5.2 points and 2.0 assists over 12.0 minutes per game, down from 19.0 minutes in his rookie year.
He is entering the final season of his rookie contract and is scheduled to earn $5.1 million for the 2026-2027 season before becoming a restricted free agent.

Analysts from PistonPowered suggest Sasser could be used as matching salary in a larger trade or could fetch a future second-round draft pick in a separate deal.
