Netherlands international Nathan Ake has completed a permanent move from Manchester City to Turkish side Fenerbahce, the Istanbul club announced on Friday, July 3, 2026.
The 31-year-old center-back ends a six-year spell at the Etihad Stadium, during which he made 177 appearances and won 12 major trophies.

Ake initially joined Manchester City from Bournemouth in 2020 for around €45 million.
Fenerbahce Confirms Deal
Fenerbahce confirmed the transfer in an official statement, saying they reached an agreement with the Dutch player and signed a contract.
The club did not disclose the contract length or financial details.
“Our club has reached an agreement with Nathan Aké, a player of the Netherlands national team, and has signed a contract with the footballer,” Fenerbahce stated.
The club added that Ake will join the squad at their pre-season training camp in Austria after completing the necessary permission process.

“Our player, who wore the jersey in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will join our team in the Austria camp following the permission process.

Ake featured in three World Cup matches for the Netherlands before their round-of-32 elimination by Morocco.
New Chapter in Turkey
The move comes amid major changes at Manchester City, with Enzo Maresca recently succeeding Pep Guardiola as manager.

Fenerbahce expects the versatile defender to strengthen their backline under manager Ismail Kartal, who replaced Domenico Tedesco after finishing runners-up to Galatasaray.
