The Netherlands Royal Family will celebrate King's Day in Lelystad on April 27, 2027, to mark King Willem-Alexander's 60th birthday, the Government Information Service announced on July 6, 2026.
Mayor Mieke Baltus expressed her delight at welcoming the Royal Family to the city.

"I am very pleased that we can welcome the Royal Family to our young and dynamic city," said Baltus.
She emphasized that the national celebration will highlight the local community's identity and collaborative efforts.
"That day we will show the entire Netherlands what we are proud of: our pioneering spirit, our diversity, and our hospitality," said Baltus.
"This visit is a wonderful reward for the efforts of all our residents and entrepreneurs, who together make Lelystad a little more beautiful every day."
King's Commissioner Arjen Gerritsen noted that hosting the celebration provides a significant promotional opportunity for the province of Flevoland.
"It is a unique opportunity to show Flevoland to an audience of millions," said Gerritsen.

He expressed confidence that the upcoming festivities will generate long-term benefits for the entire area.
"We welcome the Royal Family with pride and show what our region stands for: innovation, entrepreneurship, space, and connectedness," said Gerritsen.
"I am convinced that King's Day 2027 will provide a positive impulse to our region."
The year 2027 marks a double milestone, as both King Willem-Alexander and the city of Lelystad will turn 60 years old.
While the King has never celebrated his birthday in Flevoland before, former Queen Beatrix previously visited the province for Queen's Day in 1994 and 2006.
